"I knew that I was
theoretically doing graffiti and that I had to be careful. In the first few days
I had not been caught yet but I knew I had to be careful because I was in the
subway and there are cops down there. Also there was the idea, because it was
chalk it was a very fragile thing, very temporary, that if a cop were to catch
me I could say "Look, its chalk, I can wipe it off."
